Love Is

1 John 4:7-10

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (NIV)

The Lord is as close as your prayers

Phil. 4:4-9

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Lamentations 3:17-26

The people of God refused to listen to Jeremiah’s warnings and were taken captive by a heathen nation as a result. Lamentations is a record of Jeremiah’s lament over the shameful fate of God’s people.

He weeps, “Peace has been stripped away, and I have forgotten what prosperity is. I cry out, ‘My splendor is gone! Everything I had hoped for from the LORD is lost!’ The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!’ The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD” (Lamentations 3:17-26).

Control Your Tongue

Ps 12:1-4
Help, LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men. Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception. May the LORD cut off all flattering lips  and every boastful tongue that says, “We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips–who is our master?” (NIV)

God’s Wisdom

James 3:14-18
But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.  This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. February 20, 2010 meeting notes

Old Business

Road Captains: we need volunteers.

An event with Biker Church, Danny Ponder, RRJ and Kat was discussed. Warren will set up a pre event meeting date.

New Business

July 31st rodeo at the Calico Rock prison discussed, you need to see George if you would like to participate. He will need some information so you can be allowed inside the prison. We will do two programs, one AM and one PM.

Mountain, Music and Motorcycles event is July 20th-22nd. We are in the drawing for a booth, we will know by the end of April or the 1st of May if we have a spot. We will only be doing one day, Saturday the 21st. We will just be making our presents known and handing out RRJ materials.

Turkey Trot booth, we will not be doing a booth this year, rather we will walk the crowds and hand out materials.

Fund raisers. Darlene has volunteered to head up a fundraiser committee. Fund raising ideas are needed. So far we are looking at Karmel Korn, 50/50 drawings, possible refurbishing some old motorcycles to either give away or raffle off. John and Warren will be looking into that possibility.

A chapter women’s ministry group discussed. Women would monthly.

A over night ride Memorial Day weekend was discussed. Suggestions needed. Tunica was suggested because of their great eating-places. We will not go anywhere a member is not comfortable in going. Bill is working on other possible rides.

Son Rise ride is June 5th. This is the Internationals only fund raising event. See Dave if you have question on this.

Days of Praise, September 8th thru the 12th, lodgings fill fast, you need to decide if you are going and make your plans on where you will be staying.

Website, John has updated the site and has done a super job. Information on events and sure should be directed to him so it can be posted on the site.

Chapter hand out business card design was presented. Darlene supplied us with several companies that will do 500 cards for $5.00. John will be ordering 1000 of them.

Biker Sunday at the Nazarene Church was to be April 25th @ 10:30 AM, that has been changed to the 18th, same time.

Norfolk Pioneer Days is the 1st Saturday in May, the idea of a bike show was brought up. Nothing decided.

Burke made a motion to send $50.00 to St Jude’s in the name of Venita Reed, Charlie Reed’s mother. Motion seconded and passed.

A most miles ridden by member in 2010 was discussed, It is being refined and will be ready to be put in place at the March 20th meeting.

Coats for kids, we will be doing that again this year. The 2009 event was a learning event and we will be doing some of it differently this year. Date has not been set.

Shoe drive, will not be done again, while the event was very successful, the fact that we would need to pay shipping to St Louis was prohibitive.

We need to order more chapter patches; the first 18 went very quickly. One will need to be replaced as it is flawed.

There are 10 non-elected positions available in the chapter. Members are encouraged to consider volunteering for one of these positions.

Fellowships were discussed. We will not be doing the monthly fellowships this year. We will do something every couple of months, picnics, BBQs or dinners.

The possibility of starting a chapter in Yellville was discussed. Bill will look further into it.

Praise in the Park July 17th from 11 AM to 3 PM, a picnic and praise event to be put on by The Fire Escape. It will be in the Lakeview Dam Site Park.

Motion was made to close meeting and seconded.

God’s Will

The jealousy and abuse of King Saul made young David’s life miserable. Saul knew that God had chosen David to be king instead of him. Although David was a loyal subject, Saul tried to kill him.

Once, when David was hiding in a cave, King Saul came in without knowing David was there. “_’Now’s your opportunity!’ David’s men whispered to him. ‘Today the LORD is telling you, “I will certainly put your enemy into your power, to do with as you wish.”_’ So David crept forward and cut off a piece of the hem of Saul’s robe. But then David’s conscience began bothering him because he had cut Saul’s robe. ‘The LORD knows I shouldn’t have done that to my lord the king,’ he said to his men. ‘The LORD forbid that I should do this to my lord the king and attack the LORD’s anointed one, for the LORD himself has chosen him.’ So David restrained his men and did not let them kill Saul” (1 Samuel 24:4-7).

Decision Time

King David had reached a pinnacle of success. He had conquered giants, won  many battles, captured the hearts of his people, and overcome enemies on every  side. While he was in this comfortable position, life surprised him with a rebellion led by his own son.

Here’s what happened: “A messenger soon  arrived in Jerusalem to tell David, ‘All Israel has joined Absalom in a conspiracy against you!’ ‘Then we must flee at once, or it will be too late!’ David urged his men. ‘Hurry! If we get out of the city before Absalom arrives, both we and the city of Jerusalem will be spared from disaster. . . . If the LORD sees fit,’ David said, ‘he will bring me back to see the Ark and the Tabernacle again. But if he is through with me, then let him do what seems best to him’_” (2 Samuel 15:13-14, 25-26).

Did king David forget to rely on God??

The Joy of the LORD

The Jewish exiles who returned to Jerusalem after captivity in Babylon had lost touch with God. During the exile, they hadn’t been taught his laws; so naturally, they hadn’t practiced them either.
After rebuilding the city walls and the temple, the priests gathered the people together to read the Book of the Law. The people were overwhelmed with grief and began sobbing, because
their lives in no way measured up. The priests said to them, “Don’t mourn or weep on such a day as this! For today is a sacred day before the LORD your God….
Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared . . . for the joy of the LORD is your strength!” (Nehemiah 8:9-10).

Officers Meeting Report

The the officers meeting we discussed a number of items for the chapters involvement. We would like to hear your thoughts, ideas and wishes for the chapter in the coming year.

Things we need to hear from you about are:

Rides
Where, when, how (route), duration (hours/days) and how far (miles). Tunica was suggested because of their great buffets. Would you be willing to ride there or not? We will not go anywhere someone is not comfortable going to. We discussed a possible Memorial weekend ride, interested?

Fund raisers
We need your ideas on them. Uncomplicated ideas. Kettle Korn and 50/50 raffles were two suggestions.

Ministry
We have a chance to do a rodeo at the Calico Rock prison July 31st Would you be willing to partake in one? What are your thoughts on how/where we can minister? Biker Sundays.

Social events for chapter members
This is not to be confused with rides. These would picnics, BBQ’s, brown bags lunches, dinners at members homes and the likes.

We need you to PLEASE come to the next meeting ready to move our chapter forward.

This is not everything we discussed, you need to come to the meeting to hear everything.
