Kettle Korn Fund Raiser

Charlie mans the booth at Wal-Mart

Charlie Works the booth at Wal-Mart

Friday and Saturday, June 18-19, the Chapter sold Kettle Korn at Wal-Mart to raise funds for International. As many of you may know, there are no dues associated with RRJ. Each chapter receives whatever funds the Lord provides and uses those funds to minister in His name.

Once a year, with the Sonrise Ride, each chapter collects or raises funds to support International. Those funds are used to publish the Rider’s Call magazine, support International events and offset some of the costs associated with providing literature, materials, travel and other expenses.

Some chapters collect funds before the Sonrise Ride, some ride for donations and others do fund raisers. This year we did the Plant Sale and Kettle Korn Sale to supplement individual contributions. Danny Watson, owner of Mountain Home Kettle Korn, was kind enough to provide us with freshly popped Kettle Korn and Pork Rinds at a deep discount, so we could keep the maximum amount for the chapter.

Members worked two booths in front of Wal-Mart from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM both Friday and Saturday. The blistering heat made it difficult to interest folks in the Kettle Korn and Pork Rinds we had for sale, but even so, we managed to raise a significant contribution for International. Many brothers and sisters in the Lord saw our sign and simply made a donation. Others gave well over the suggested donation.

While were were there, we also had the opportunity to discuss Jesus and RRJ with many folks. We gave out chapter cards and literature to a number of interested riders, and some have already made contact and expressed interest in joining our ministry.

There were many who worked tirelessly to make this fund raiser possible. Our thanks and prayers go to Bill & Fran, Warren, Lois & Kyle, Charlie & Diana, Dan & Dorthy, George & Darlene, John & Marilyn, and a special thanks to new member Joey Rey, who worked both days without a break!

Hot Springs Chapter Support

Bill, Steve, David, Warren, Retha, Kathy

Bill, Steve, David, Warren, Retha, Kathy

Recently Bill, Warren and John rode to Greenbrier, AR to meet with representatives of the newly formed Hots Springs, AR chapter. We had a great ride and met some new friends.

Hot Springs is the newest chapter in Arkansas, so new that their first meeting isn’t until the end of June. But it is easy to see that these wonderful folks are true ministers of the Gospel and welcome brothers and sisters in RRJ.

Steve and Retha, and David and Kathy, are coordinating the new chapter formation. They have taken the lead in completing the application for membership in International and organizing the first meeting where officers will be elected and the chapter will begin functioning.

As Arkansas State Coordinator, our president Bill Patrick is responsible for supporting new chapters in our beautiful state. So that was the purpose of our ride and visit. We pledged our support and prayer as we encouraged Steve, Retha, David and Kathy to focus on serving the Lord as they began their journey with RRJ.

After all, it’s is all about that Name, Jesus! We exist to bring glory and honor to His Name, and to proclaim His Gospel.

Please keep the Hot Springs chapter, their leaders and their members in your prayers daily.

We are looking forward to our first ride together, which we are planning soon!

Old Business

Still waiting on response from Mtn View C of C about a booth. Will call again 6/21/10 in afternoon.

Road Clean up, will be held June 29th, a Tuesday evening, at 7 PM. Meet at Tucker Cemetery Rd.

Items for Troops, coming together. We have USPS APO Priority boxes. We will try filling 1 or 2 of them to see how it goes. We would like to see us be able to send 4 boxes once a month with 1 being dedicated for women. Motion was made by Diana and 2nd by Fran to have the chapter pick up the $12.50 each it cost to ship the boxes. I have the boxes and a list of items that was provided by Charlie on how and what to send.

New Business

Biker Fest, June 26th, Cotter Big Springs Park was discussed, and voted on. Because of the late date of information being made to available to us we do not feel we will be able to involve the chapter. Warren will contact Vicki and tell her we would be very happy to help next year, just give us more notice.

Stand up for Jesus Rally, May 14th, 2011, was discussed. They presented us with a list of ways that we can be involved. There is plenty of time and we will discuss it further. Contact Warren if you would like a copy of that list.

Bikers Sunday July 18th at Heber Springs Christian Church, 1101 N Broadway was discussed. Attendance is questionable due to the number of Pastors we have doing Church on a Sunday. If it is possible Bill and Warren will attend. Other members are encouraged to if they would be free to go.

Chapter Banner, shelved again. Too few members present to discuss one. Also we would like John to make a photo Chapter 6 banner available so members can see what we would like to do.

Candy, lots of options. From packages for the troops to nursing home residents to our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. It appears that it will be an inexpensive multifaceted ministry opportunity.

To have a garage sale, in September or October, rather than donate items we do not need, we can sell them and donate the funds to the chapter. Or if you have a item that you need to recover funds from a percent of the sale could be donated to the chapter. More on this will be discussed when we have our next meeting.

The Back Pack Food Program fund raiser ride July 24th was brought up. A motion was make by Marilyn and 2nd Diana  that we make this a chapter event, unanimous. Everyone is encouraged to attend. We would like to do this as a unit. Cost is $10.00 per bike. Contact Warren if you would like a copy of the flyer on this.

RRJ Chapter 24 apparel, some sample clothing items were made available for members to approve, tees, female and male polo shirts, two different weight dress shirts available for female and male and baseball caps. A number of colors are available and will be available at the next meeting to see, a motion by Diana and 2nd by Burke to approve the apparel and pricing, unanimous .

Motion was made by Marilyn and 2nd by Diana to close the meeting, unanimous .

Lastly I regret to inform everyone that Neil Callis and Dave Ogborn have withdrawn from the chapter. Neil no longer has a motorcycle and is unable to ride. Dave decided his calling for ministry is different than Road Riders at this time and is going to pursue what he believes is Gods’ calling for him. They will be greatly missed.

Prayer Changes Things – Praise The Lord

I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Alvin, the Hot Springs member who went down last week. While he was not suppose to be out of the hospital yet……………..He was released yesterday. He has 4  cracked ribs on the right in back and 4 cracked ribs in front on the right and his right lung is bruised. He called to thank our chapter for all the prayers and asked for us to  continue to pray for him for a while. He is still stiff and a deep breathe causes a lot of discomfort, but he is home up and walking about. God can do wonders when we pray.

Oh, and he is bike shopping.

Marriage

The Bible tells us that marriage should be a relationship that satisfies the needs of both partners. The apostle Paul wrote, “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. . . . Husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body. As the Scriptures say, ‘A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’. . . So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband” (Ephesians 5:21, 28-31, 33).

Judging

My Sister sent this , I never though of it this , what do you think.
When we judge another, we are judging God’s creation.  So give it some thought before you judge someone!  (I’m including myself in this!)
