Road Riders For Jesus Chapter 24 participated in the 2010 Backpack benefit ride. The backpack program is designed to send backpacks or bags full of food home with children during the school year who may not otherwise get adequate nutrition over the weekend. Event organizers reported that the event raised over $3,000 for the children.
RRJ Chapter 24 helped with registration and provided much needed water to riders along the route.
Bill, John, Charlie and Warren greeted over 120 Backpack riders from the registration tables. Greeting old friends and making new ones, our Chapter was right up front with handshakes and Chapter 24 cards.
Once the ride started, the near 100 degree temperatures and blazing sun changed the need from registration to refreshment. Warren’s trike, equipped with a cooler full of ice and bottles of water, was a popular stop at the half-way point.
John and Marilyn were featured in Baxter Bulletin’s article on the Backpack ride.
